Vintage Gliders

We have been flying gliders at Dunstable Downs since 1930, and we are justly proud of our history and heritage as the oldest club in the UK. Some of the most iconic Vintage gliders are kept at the club, lovingly restored and preserved by a small band of dedicated club members.

On a sunny day, especially if the wind is blowing onto the hill, they come out to fly, producing a magnificent spectacle for the visitors both on top of the ridge and for those on the airfield who have come to fly with us.

Our vintage gliders provide hours of fun for LGC pilots. We often take them for expeditions to Gliding Rallys organised by the Vintage Glider Club.
